One heart and many minds

*The heart I am referring here is non physical like mind.

From the point of Vijay, there is one consciousness that is aware of “Vijay,” and this same consciousness flows through the whole body, touching billions or even trillions of cells. Yet each cell seems to have its own kind of focused consciousness: a heart cell is busy with heart work, a liver cell with liver work, and so on. Still, all these countless cells work together in collaboration for the higher consciousness—the consciousness of Vijay in this context. When this collaboration is smooth, the body is healthy. When it breaks down, especially for a long time, it shows up as disease, especially chronic disease.

In this way of seeing, thoughts that arise from the overall consciousness of Vijay can be called the heart, and thoughts that arise from the small, focused awareness of individual parts can be called the mind. So, there is one heart and many minds.

On the bigger scale, one pure consciousness (I) flows through all beings in the universe, yet each being has its own separate sense of “i” (focused consciousness) to take care of a particular body. We can call this pure consciousness the True Self or God, and the body-based “i” as the ego. The ego is natural and even useful, as long as it also remembers that there is a higher consciousness behind it.

Being aware of both—True Self and ego—and finding a balance between them is enough for human beings to create something like heaven on earth. In this larger context too, thoughts arising from pure consciousness (God) can be called the heart, and thoughts arising from the focused consciousness or ego, like Vijay, can be called the mind. So again, there is only one heart and many minds.

Appendix: Meditate on the following

#1 – Live, let live, collaborate

Live and let others live. Collaborate.

This applies at every level: among members of a single family, among people in a community, among different religions in the world, and among nations on this planet. When each part allows the other to live and chooses cooperation over conflict, life naturally becomes more harmonious for everyone.

#2 – Wave, ocean, ego, God

Just like a wave is not separate from the ocean, the ego is never truly separate from God. In both cases, it is all the same essence: for the wave/ocean, it is all water; for the person/God, it is all consciousness. Our perception can make them seem separate, and a different perception can make them seem the same.

Focus on the waves if you want to enjoy their beauty, but remember the ocean in the background. In the same way, focus on the body to enjoy its sensations and pleasures, but remember the underlying unity: one consciousness expressing through many forms.

Just as every different cell is necessary and equal for Vijay to have a healthy body, every being is necessary and equal for God’s total expression. Vijay cannot allow a heart cell to destroy a liver cell and still remain healthy; in the same way, God does not support one person killing another in the name of religion, nation, or any other label.

#3

Tune directly to God, not to any intermediate priest, religion, or authority for the final definition of God. You may take the help from such intermediaries to be aware of God, but do not for the definition. Each intermediate entity tends to create its own version of truth, divide people into groups, gain power over those groups, and then use them to fight and conquer other groups, which finally leads to violence and separation.

#4

In the human world, however, killing and violence still happen, usually when people act from a disturbed mind rather than a clear heart. The problem is that many then claim, “God told me to do this,” and use God’s name to justify their mental violence. On the other side, if we make a rigid rule like “never, ever act firmly, only forgive everything,” that also becomes a loophole, allowing real cruelty to move around freely without any boundary.

So it is not possible to create one fixed rule that fits every situation. What is needed is a living balance—a heart that is connected to God (the deeper consciousness) and a mind that can act with clarity and responsibility. As this balance becomes more perfect, the need to harm or kill anyone naturally disappears.
