The Root

 We often hear ancient wisdom and spiritual phrases like, "We are all one," or "I and the Divine are one." They sound beautiful, but in the middle of a busy, stressful human life, what do those words actually mean? More importantly, what does that truth actually feel like when applied to our modern lives? To understand this, we have to look at the very foundation of human suffering and complexity. It all begins with a single seed: the Root Thought. The Banyan Tree of the Ego The "root thought" is simply the deeply ingrained belief that "I am a separate entity." It is the voice that says, "I am me, and you are you. I am separate from the rest of the world." Once I see myself as a separate, isolated person, a predictable chain reaction occurs. I begin to form attachments to specific people, titles, and things.
