Joyful Anger

There is a massive misconception in the spiritual community: If you are truly enlightened, you will never get angry. We are taught to suppress our intense emotions, believing they are unspiritual or a sign of failure.

But what if the anger itself isn't the problem? What if the only thing that matters is where the emotion comes from?

There are two entirely different ways to experience anger: as a reaction from the ego, or as an expression of the Divine. Learning the difference will completely change how you handle your inner storms.

1. "Sticky" Anger (The Ego's Reaction)

Most of the anger we experience is purely reactive. We look at a circumstance, a person, or a perceived insult in the physical world, and our human ego flares up in defense.

This type of anger is "sticky." It comes with a story. It holds grudges, replays arguments in the shower, seeks revenge, and poisons your peace of mind for days, weeks, or even years. This is the anger of the ego, and it causes nothing but suffering because it is entirely controlled by the outside world.

2. "Clean" Anger (Divine Expression)

When you are actively resting in a state of spiritual surrender—allowing the Divine to flow through you—any feeling that arises is perfectly fine, including anger.

Sometimes, the Infinite Intelligence needs to pulse a fierce energy through you to set a firm boundary or correct a harmful situation. This divine anger (often called righteous indignation) is entirely different from egoic anger. It is "clean." It does not hold a grudge. It flashes up specifically to meet the needs of the moment, and once the situation is handled, it vanishes completely. It leaves zero residue, guilt, or resentment behind.

3. The Paradox of the "Beholder"

How do you know which type of anger you are experiencing?

You look for the paradox: Can you feel anger and joy at the exact same time? When you are in the Witness state, you still feel the presence of the Divine within you in the background, even while anger is being expressed through your body. So, you experience the physical rush of the anger, but because you are aware of the Divine flowing through you, you feel a deep, underlying joy at the same time.

Next time you feel a surge of frustration, try to pause and step backward into the "Witness" seat. Let me know in the comments how it changes the experience for you.
