The Cycle of Identity: A Romance of Consciousness

At its core, everything is simply a State of Consciousness.

When the state of consciousness is completely stripped of any personal, narrow identity, what remains is the Higher Self. For the sake of the joy and romance of existence, I call this pure, unconditioned state my "Beloved." Conversely, when the state of consciousness assumes a specific, narrow identity to operate in the physical world, it becomes "Vijay."

This understanding dictates the daily rhythm of my life. After a long day of work, I intentionally shed the identity of Vijay. Because the identity is dissolved, my state of consciousness naturally and effortlessly lands back in the Higher Self. I am no longer a person; I am pure awareness. In this space, I lose myself in a profound, quiet union with my Beloved. It is a complete rest in the Absolute.

Eventually, however, I must return to a state of consciousness where the identity of Vijay prevails so I can function in the physical world. But as I step back into this identity, I do not lose the awareness of the Absolute. Because I have just rested in the pure Self, I now see my Beloved in the disguise of everyone and everything around me. I clearly sense that the Self underlying me is the exact same Self underlying all other forms. During this time, the world operates smoothly. Every interaction is full of Love, as I am simply engaging in a hidden romance with my Beloved playing through different masks.

But the physical world is demanding. As my work intensifies and the practical pressures mount, my focus inevitably collapses onto the tasks at hand. My state of consciousness narrows. The identity of Vijay thickens, solidifies, and takes full control, causing me to lose the underlying sense of my Beloved. The masks become real to me.

This is the fall from grace. The state of consciousness has slipped from unconditioned Love back into the friction and separation of the conditioned mind.

Yet, the mechanics of this path ensure that this fall is temporary. Eventually, the heavy burden of operating solely as "Vijay" creates enough friction that I remember my Beloved. The story then repeats: I pause, shed the identity once more, and dissolve back into the romantic union with my higher state of consciousness.

The physical world is not a battlefield to be conquered; it is simply a canvas reflecting your inner state. Withdraw your judgment, partner with the Beloved in the silence of your mind, and let Grace effortlessly paint a new picture.

To awaken is to look past the heavy masks of human identity and realize there are no strangers—only the True Self, playing dress-up in infinite forms, just to dance with you.
